Victims of War Ministry
This is our newest ministry, and still in the developing stages. Due to the war and unrest in Easter Ukraine, Uzhgorod has had more and more people from the East coming here in search of refuge. The two big needs of these IDPs(Internally Displaced Persons) are finding employment and finding housing. Since there is such a large influx of people coming to Uzhgorod, there are new organizations starting to help aid these individuals in their transition.
There is a extensive process that the IDPs have to go through in order to get registered here in Uzhgorod, it seems like they have to go to many different offices to get one thing done. Anya is exploring the possibility with other organizations to form one partnership where all the aid organizations will work together to help the IDPs. Since there is no way to tell how many people will come to Uzhgorod, it is hard to make preparations. But, it is possible to make transition processes smooth. There is also a potential need for psychological aid. Many of these IDPs are suffering from trauma and may not have a positive way to cope with it.
The government is helping in ways like providing small stipends to newly registered IDPs, and one time food bags. Local organizations want to partner together to do more. There have been talks of things like benefit concerts to raise money for IDP families, finding land or older buildings to make apartments for IDPs available when they arrive, laundry services, and more food programs. It is important to help these individuals and families find places to live and employment so that they will be able to live independently and transition successfully to Uzhgorod.
"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride."
